World Athletics has released the official entry lists for the upcoming World Athletics Indoor Championships Toruń 26. From March 20–22, 674 athletes from 118 countries will compete, including global superstar Mondo Duplantis and twelve defending champions from Nanjing.

674 Athletes from Around the Globe Ready to Compete

The entry lists confirm that the World Indoor Championships Kujawy-Pomorskie 26 will be an event of massive proportions. According to official data as of March 14, 2026, a total of 674 athletes are set to compete. The field consists of 345 men and 329 women, representing a near-perfect gender balance for this global showcase.

The event will bring together representatives from 118 national athletic federations, turning the Kujawy-Pomorskie region into the epicenter of international sports. Organizers emphasize that such a deep field guarantees high-stakes drama across every discipline, from explosive sprints to technical field events. Held at Arena Toruń, the competition will serve as the premier indoor event of the 2026 season.

National squads are arriving at full strength, with many federations sending their top-ranked stars. For instance, Team USA has entered a massive 54-athlete delegation, while the hosts, Poland, will be represented by 31 athletes. This high level of participation underscores the prestige of hosting the world’s best on Polish soil.

Duplantis, Mahuchikh, and Global Stars Head to Toruń

The entry lists feature twelve gold medalists from last year’s championships in Nanjing returning to defend their titles. Headlining the group is pole vault sensation Mondo Duplantis, who arrives with a world-leading personal best of 6.31m. He is joined in the field events by stars like high jumper Woo Sanghyeok and shot putter Tom Walsh.

Toruń will also host eleven individual gold medalists from the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo and nine Olympic champions from Paris 2024. Fans can look forward to seeing high jump world record holder Yaroslava Mahuchikh and 800m standout Keely Hodgkinson. The presence of such decorated athletes elevates these championships to a historic level for the region.

The women’s competitions look equally thrilling, featuring champions such as Devynne Charlton in the 60m hurdles and Nicola Olyslagers in the high jump. In the shot put, Sarah Mitton returns to defend her title against an incredibly deep field. With so many current record holders and champions, these entry lists are among the strongest in the history of the World Indoors.

Strong Host Nation Representation

Polish fans are eagerly anticipating the performances of their local favorites, many of whom hold top positions on the entry lists. One of the biggest medal hopes is Ewa Swoboda, who holds a season’s best of 7.07s in the 60m. In the hurdles, Jakub Szymański is in a dominant position, entering the meet with a time of 7.37s—sharing the top of the list with the American contingent.

The lists also include the Polish 4x400m relay teams, which have been staples of the global elite for years. The women’s squad features Natalia Bukowiecka and Justyna Święty-Ersetic, posing a real threat for the podium. On the men’s side, the relay team includes Olympic mixed relay champion Kajetan Duszyński.
