With less than 40 days until the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26, the official medals have been revealed at Arena Torun. These trophies, which the world’s elite track and field athletes will compete for this March, were showcased as organizers enter the final phase of preparations.

A Star-Shaped Symbol of Regional Identity

The medals were officially unveiled during a press conference at Arena Torun on February 9. Designed in collaboration with the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Tourist Organization (KPOT), the design is deeply rooted in the region’s heritage. According to Marshal Piotr Całbecki, the medals represent the “constellations of good places.”

The obverse of the medal features elements of the KPOT logo, connecting athletic excellence with regional promotion. The design utilizes a theme of scattered points connected into triangles to form stellar constellations famous in the region. This is a direct tribute to Torun’s astronomical traditions and the legacy of Nicolaus Copernicus, while also symbolizing the prestige and uniqueness of the podium.

The trophy itself is shaped like a star. Polish sprinter Marika Popowicz-Drapała noted that the form perfectly captures the atmosphere of the Kujawy and Pomorze regions, expressing her hope to win the most important medal of her career on home soil. European Indoor 400m silver medalist Maksymilian Szwed added that for every athlete arriving in Torun, this specific award—the indoor season’s highest honor—will be the ultimate goal.

Tickets Selling Fast: Schedule Confirmed

Interest in the championships is exceptionally high. Meet Director Krzysztof Wolsztyński reported that tickets are disappearing quickly, with several afternoon sessions already sold out. Limited seats remain available through the eBilet.pl platform.

The championships will take place from March 20–22, 2026. Fans can choose from three price categories, with the most affordable tickets starting at 100 PLN to ensure the event is accessible to a wide audience.

The action at Arena Torun begins on Friday at 10:05 AM. The evening sessions are scheduled for 6:10 PM on Friday, 6:25 PM on Saturday, and the final session starting at 5:40 PM on Sunday. This schedule was optimized for global television broadcasts and spectator comfort.

The first medals will be awarded as early as Friday morning in the Women’s High Jump final, featuring Maria Żodzik—one of the events where Polish fans have high medal hopes.

Beyond the Arena

The global championship extends beyond the track. Since January, the “50 Relays of Kujawy and Pomorze” project has been promoting an active lifestyle across the province. These community sports events will continue until the opening day of the championships to build a sense of unity and local engagement.

The organizers also confirmed that ORLEN has joined as an official partner. Paweł Patkowski, Director of the Sports Sponsoring Office, emphasized that the collaboration aims to support Polish sports and promote physical activity on an international scale.

The Final Stretch Before Kickoff

The medal presentation serves as a symbolic milestone—a sign that the organization has entered its final phase. With ticket pools nearly exhausted, the prestige of the upcoming event is undeniable. Fans who have not yet secured their entries should immediately check seat availability for the remaining sessions to ensure they are part of this historic competition.
